A Native of New Mexico, Dr. Lacey graduated from the University of New Mexico School Medicine in 1980. His postgraduate Surgical Residency programs included Surgical Residencies at the University of Texas Medical Branch and the University of New Mexico School Of Medicine followed by Fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo. Dr. Lacey began his academic career at the University of North Carolina. He subsequently moved back to the southwest in 1993 and became Associate Professor of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas. He served as the General Surgery Residency Director there for several years and was Pediatric Trauma Medical Director at TTUHSC and subsequently at Covenent Children's Hospital. He and his family came to Phoenix in 2003. Currently he is a Full Professor of Surgery at the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine and has received several teaching awards throughout his career. Dr. Lacey is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics Surgical Section and Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of multiple medical societies and past Program Chair of the Surgical Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has published numerous articles and book chapters and presented widely at national and international meetings. Dr. Lacey has four sons and adores his wife, Krystal, a family nurse practitioner. A science fiction aficionado, he enjoys golf and on the rare occasions he is free to play.
