Dr. David Notrica is a native of Atlanta Georgia. He graduated Cum Laude from Duke University in 1988 and Emory University School of Medicine in 1992 where he was class president and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He completed his general surgery residency training at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 1997 and his Pediatric Surgery Fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston in 1999. Dr. Notrica is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is board certified in both Pediatric Surgery and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Additionally, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He enjoys training residents from the Mayo Clinic – Arizona, Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency (Good Samaritan), and medical students from both campuses of the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Notrica was Chairman of Surgery at Phoenix Children’s Hospital before becoming Chief of Staff in 2006. He has given presentations at the American Pediatric Surgical Association, Canadian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, American Academy of Pediatrics--Surgical Section as well as Grand Rounds at all three general surgery training programs in the Valley. Dr. Notrica has also been identified multiple times as a Top Doc by Phoenix Magazine and Best Doctors in America database. In 2007, Dr. Notrica developed a Level 1 Trauma Center for Phoenix Children's Hospital . This program is the only ACS-Verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Arizona. Despite a busy Pediatric Surgery practice, Dr. Notrica continues as the Trauma Medical Director. He is a member of multiple academic societies including the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, and the Michael E. DeBakey Society. Dr. Notrica lives in Phoenix with his wife, Michelle, and son, Michael. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, fishing, and running. His special interests are in Biliary Atresia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Pectus Excavatum.
